This is the remains of Sunpu Castle, which was built by Tokugawa Ieyasu in 1585 and where he spent his later years as a magnate. The East Gate, Tatsumi Yagura, and Kon Yagura are faithful reproductions of their original appearance. Located in the center of the city, it is popular among citizens as a great recreational area.
