Shimizu Port Festival

A summer tradition in Shimizu Ward, Shizuoka City. It is held over three days from Friday to Sunday in the first week of August. The "Minato Kappore Soodori" is a thrilling event where 20,000 citizens dance enthusiastically along Satsuki Street from JR Shimizu Station to Minato Bridge (4.2 km round trip). On the final day, 10,000 fireworks light up the port and the night sky in 60 minutes at the "Maritime Fireworks Festival". Shimizu's proud festival is a perfect combination of citizens, music, tradition, port, and lights.
