Shizuoka Sengen Shrine

Shizuoka Sengen Shrine is the collective name for three shrines: Kanbe Shrine, Asama Shrine, and Ootoshi Mioya Shrine. Since ancient times, it has been revered and worshiped by successive shogunate governments as the Soja of Suruga Province, and is said to have been especially revered by the Tokugawa clan during the Edo period, as Takechiyo (Ieyasu's childhood name) performed the Genpuku ceremony here. Hatsukaesai, one of Shizuoka's most representative festivals, is held from April 1st to 5th every year.
