Where is Shizuoka City located?

Shizuoka City, the capital of Shizuoka Prefecture, is an ordinance-designated city located in the central part of the prefecture.
Surrounded by mountains on three sides and Suruga Bay to the south, it is known for its relatively mild and temperate climate.

The nearest station is JR Shizuoka Station, which is also a stop on the Tokaido Shinkansen Line. It is also easily accessible from the Shizuoka Interchange on the Tomei Expressway in about 12 minutes by car, and from the New Tomei Expressway in about 22 minutes by car.

    Tokyo IC (Tomei Expressway) → Exit at Shimizu IC → (open road Strawberry Line) → Strawberry farm and Kunouzan Toshogu Shrine → (Kunou Highway) → Total distance to Shizuoka City: about 174 km / 2 hours and 20 minutes

  • Driving along "Ogara Kaigan," a scenic beauty spot in the Tokai region [from the Nagoya area].

    As the name implies, the Ogara Coast, just before the road from Yaizu City to Shizuoka City, is a coast with steep cliffs. The view of the sparkling Suruga Bay from the road jutting out from the cliff into the sea is breathtaking! There are many sharp curves, so be very careful when driving.

By train

The JR Tokaido Shinkansen arrives at Shizuoka Station approximately three to five times per hour on the Hikari and Kodama trains combined.

Hikari (approx. 60 min. from Tokyo/Nagoya)
Both the up and down lines stop at Shizuoka Station about once an hour. *When boarding the Hikari, be sure to check the schedule as some trains do not stop at Shizuoka Station.
